The Flaming Wrath of Árelor is Released
Hello, dear fans!
Both the Second English Edition and the Third Spanish Edition of The Flaming Wrath of Árelor are, finally, available in my web store as digital purchases.
What You Will Find in the Book
The Flaming Wrath of Árelor is a High Fantasy book with heroic overtones. It tells the story of a serial killer bent on destroying the government of an Empire, and the team of investigators who must stop him.
This book is, at its core, a mystery novel with a cast of characters you will love (or love to hate!) and an interesting Fantasy universe to explore. A race against time in which every single page will give you a reason to rush towards the next one.
Don’t take my word for it. Head directly to Hollie’s blog and read what she has to say about the First English Edition.
Reflections after the Campaign
The release of The Flaming Wrath of Árelor comes after a quite successful campaign.
When I first built my digital bookstore, I was planning to release The Flaming Wrath of Árelor immediately. However, after a quick glance at the existing editions, I thought I could as well take my time and make a release fitting The Lord of Revenge. The existing material was not very well formatted, to begin with, and the English edition lacked some of the magic the Spanish one had.
The Spanish edition was in a pretty good condition, especially considering the circumstances under which it was born. I wrote the novel in my last high school year, at a moment in which I was supposed to be studying for the College access exams instead of writing fantasy stories. In fact, I made quite a few sacrifices both writing and advertising this novel, to the point of skipping important classes in order to promote it at conventions. I had an awesome team of proofreaders that ensured the final manuscript would be as good as possible. As a result, the Second Spanish Edition required only cosmetic fixes.
The English edition was a different beast.
The story is posted elsewhere in this website. Suffices to say that getting the novels translated to Shakespeare’s language was a colossal struggle. I barely could put together a proofreading team, and at times it looked like a translation would never be possible at all. Only when Route 11 Publications took the book did the English edition have a chance to become real.
Route 11 provided enough resources to shape my drafts into a publishable manuscript. Back when it was released, I thought the First English Edition of the book was fantastic. However, when preparing the Second English Edition for this re-release, I realized we had done a bit of a lousy job. The book was readable, and the story was as enjoyable in English as it was in Spanish, but the translation was botched in some points. It didn’t read like a native English Speaker had written it, and some pieces of information had been lost in the translation or, worse yet, changed beyond their original meaning.
Fixing the issues for this re-release took some time. However, I must say I am quite happy with the results. I still like the Spanish Editions better, but the current English Edition now has parts that look better in English than in the original, and the book as a whole feels more like a professional publication and less like an amateur one.
I hope you like the end result.
The Most Faithful Among Árelor’s Zealots
The Flaming Wrath of Árelor would have never been possible without my fans. Everyone of them shall be granted a place by Árelor’s burning throne, but the following ones deserve a special mention:
- hydraglyph from the Crypto For Liberty group. The greatest fan a writer will ever have, and one of the most dedicated proofreaders one can wish for. He is known for mixing fire magic and science in order to turn them into IRC servers.
- luke from the Crypto For Liberty group. The sort of wizard you want to proofread a manuscript, if you can convince him to stop roasting kangaroos for dinner with his revengeful magic.
- Hollie Hocks. She would be the best line-editor ever born, if somebody could convince her to take a rest from her blogging duties in The Library of The Golden Book.
- Everybody who filled a Pre-Order. Your ongoing efforts to fund Árelor’s crusade are what makes it possible for the good fight against the heretics to continue.
